About Anthony
Anthony Dissen, EdD, MPH, MA, RDN, CPH, is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Health Educator, and Public Health Researcher. He is currently a Tenured Assistant Professor of Health Science in the School of Health Sciences at Stockton University, and has taught previously at Rutgers University-New Brunswick and Georgian Court University. In addition to his academic appointments, Anthony worked previously as the Outpatient and Community Education Dietitian at University Medical Center of Princeton, and as a Dietitian Instructor at CentraState Medical Center. He also worked as the Lead Instructor and Chef for the Whole Foods Market Wellness Club, and was a community nutrition instructor at Middlesex County College. His scholarly work focuses on the intersections between queer and gender-non-binary communities and the healthcare system, as well as exploring how nutrition and health information is shared, understood, and utilized by consumers of health information, particularly through online and social media channels.
In addition to his work in nutrition and public health, Anthony has been a student of Meditation, Qigong, Yoga, Chinese Medicine, and Mindfulness for over 25 years. He has received in-depth training and education in Yiquan, Five Animal Frolics, Medical Qigong, Western Buddhist Practice and Psychology, and Vipassana. His Yoga education and practice has focused on Devi Yoga, Iyengar Yoga and Anusara Yoga, with particular focus on alignment-based asana practice, yogic chanting, kirtan, and devotional meditation.
